September 2006 Projects - Jacqui Byrne's Cards.

Introduction from our very own JacquiB!
Hi I'm Jacqui and I'm happily married to a very patient man, have one beautiful daughter Alanna, a dog Tipp, and a cat called Lil. I started out my craft life doing interior design, and still love to keep up to date with home projects. I always seem to have one room on the go being " revamped" :)  I did an art course while on temporary sick leave for a back problem, and from there discovered card making!  At the beginning I found it extremely hard source nice products for my hobby, but I soon discovered the internet and sites like www.craftsupplies.ie and there's been no stopping me since!  My next step is to try scrapbooking as one of the things I don't like about card making is having to give away my prized creations :)  I'm thrilled and honoured to be part of this team and hope you enjoy my projects!
Skill Level: Beginner - Middle
Materials and Tools used:
Project 1:

-
Cut a piece of the Lime Bazzill card in half to measure 12 inches by 6 inches. Fold and score down the middle to make a square card measuring 6 inches by 6 inches.
-
Cut a piece of the Dahl paper to measure 5 inches by 3 3/4 inches.
-
From the front of the green card measure an inch in from the fold and 1 inch top and bottom. Using a craft knife cut a line between these two points. Then measure in from this another 1/2 inch and cut a line paralell to the first line. This will make a slit in the card.
-
Next fold back the top right hand corner of the Dahl paper and use one of the flower brads to attach the fold to the paper.
-
Cut three small pieces of ribbon and staple to the paper on the bottom right side.
-
Attach the Happy Birthday greeting to the paper using a glue stick.
-
Finally thread the Dahl paper through the card  slit.
-
The 2nd card uses the exact same technique using the Pomegranate Bazzill cardstock as the square card background.
Project 2 - Pocket Cards! :
Using the leftover cardstock and paper, I made these two cards!!

Instructions for the Green Card:
- From the leftover Bazzill Cardstock, cut two strips of card measuring 6 inches in width and 8 inches in length, and fold them over to make cards measuring 6 x 4" .
- Next cut a piece of the Dahl Paper measuring 6" x4" and cut it in half diagonally to give me two triangles which half cover the front of the cards.
-
Glue down the triangle to the card on two sides only leaving the diagonal cut on the paper unglued.
-
Cut a piece of leftover card and cut round edges to make a tag to insert for the pocket on the card.  Stapled some pink ribbon onto the top of it.
-
Next cut some circles from the Dahl paper and attach to the tag using flower brads.
-
The tag is then loose in the pocket and can be moved in and out.  In some of the circles on the paper you can use the flower brads for decoration.
-
The card was then finished it off with a peel off greeting - " A Gift for you" , Happy Birthday or any other sentiment!
- For the red card, cut a tag using scissors and round off the edges.
- Attach a scrap of the Dahl paper to the tag using three of the flower brads
- Make a bow using some pink ribbon and glue on.
- Attach the tag to the card at an angle using foam pads, and finish with a peeloff sticker greeting!
