Cara Craft Supplies Monthly Projects!!

September 2007 - Elaine's Layout!

Hi Im Elaine and I have always been interested in arts and crafts since primary school. I started scrapbooking in Oct '05 when a friend (Ringo) introduced me to the idea and I spent a few night researching Irish and UK craft sites and since then I have been totally hooked. I have a background in Marketing and more recently Interior design. I have always loved papercrafts (starting with fancy paper collections!), photography and family history so it seemed liked the perfect hobby to amalgamate the three passions. I'm a SAHM to two little girls and they feature in a lot of my work. I have recently started teaching Scrapbooking on a local basis in Dublin and we meet up once a month which is great fun and everyone learns from each other. My personal style is vintage and distressed but I have started to investigate the clean and simple style (Ali Edwards).   I also adore altered art and ATCs and have been known to alter anything from pizza boxes to my daughters Barbie books!

Other materials required A scissors or craft knife A cutting mat A pencil & black pen for journaling Double sided sticky tape Co-ordinating chalk colour for distressing

Instructions 1.    Take the striped paper (Les Stripes) and trim to 9 x 7. 2.    Place this piece of paper on top of the Chic Notebook page and position it where it will be on the finished layout.  Trace around the shape of the striped paper lightly with a pencil.
3.    Using a scissors or cutting knife carefully cut out a section of the notebook paper using the pencil frame as a guide and leaving some floral details on the notebook paper as in the picture above.  Chalk the edges for a distressed effect. 4.    Slot the striped paper behind this window and secure with tape at the back. 5.    Add in your 5 x 7 photo using the floral detail to frame the photo. 6.    Using the super duper circle punch, punch out 3 circles from the other sheets of co-ordinating paper and adhere them to the LO as per the pic. 7.    I used a little ladybird embellishment on the bottom right corner of the photo to create a point of interest as it suited the photo. I journaled on one of the circles.
