June 2007 - Sarah's Father's Day Projects!
Hi My name is Sarah and I live in
the west of Ireland between Galway and Ennis - I have lived in Connemara, the
Highlands of Scotland and North Wales over the years, although I was born in the
North West of England. I love dabbling with all kinds of crafts, although
recently cardmaking has taken over most of my free time (and house). I have
started scrapping as well. Im a mum to baby Aoife, born in August 2006 the
cutest little pickle imaginable. So Im enjoying the early days with her for
now. For the future I hope to find some way of using my crafty pursuits to help
me find a niche for some venture that allows me to work from home.

Instructions
-
Take an A4 sheet of card and fold into a gatefold
(wardrobe or front opening) card.
-
Use a sheet of  KMA Dirty laundry Popsicle Drip
and cut two strips the width of each gate for the trouser legs.  Glue
down but leave about an inch overhang at the bottom of each leg. Fold the
overhang back to create a turn up effect and glue down (see photo 1 below).
-
Trim
the excess paper from the top of each leg and cut two freehand curves across the
two pieces (they should be roughly square to start with) to form two patch
pockets (see photo 2 below). Glue into place and use a Gelly Roll pen to add
some stitch detail.
-
Cut a narrow strip of Bazzill approx 1 inch across for
the belt. Cut this strip into two pieces for the belt - glue one strip to the
right hand leg of the trousers and trim to the correct length.  Cut the
second strip so that it overlaps the centre of the card by an inch.  Cut
the end into a curved point and add 3 eyelets along the length of the belt piece
(see photo 3 below). Glue in place on the left hand side only it needs to lift
up to insert into buckle. Make the buckle by cutting a 2 inch square of Bazzill
and then cut a square inside it ink with gold or copper ink to give a shine.
Put glue on the top and bottom of the buckle only and glue onto the right hand
piece of belt. The left hand piece should slide into the buckle freely.
-
Mount the tool peel offs from the Mr Fix It set onto
scrap paper and cut out. Tuck the pliers in the top of the belt belt and secure
with glue. Thread wire onto spanner and fasten onto a gold paper clip.
-
Punch a tag from KMA Dirty Laundry Nics Bowtie,
layer with the Bazzill and use the peel offs to add the word DAD. Fasten to
paper clip with more wire and finally slide the paper clip over the
belt.

Instructions
-
Take a white C6 card blank and score a line in the top
centre 1 inch down using your bone folder. Snip down this line and fold the 2
flaps back to form the shirt collar. From the Making Memories Love Dot paper cut
freehand shapes for the tie as follows: a square with rounded corners for the
knot, a large narrow diamond and a smaller diamond with the ends cut off for the
hanging pieces (see photo 1 below). Assemble tie and stick in place.
-
Add the
waistcoat
cut a piece of
black card the same size as the card front and then cut it in half. Two inches
from the bottom of the card cut up from one side of the card on the diagonal to
form each side of the waistcoat (see photo 2 below). Stick in place with a strip
of double sided tape along each edge and then fold back the sides so that the
waistcoat can be opened.
-
Make two pockets from rectangles of black card and glue one on the
outside and one on the inside of your waistcoat (I used opposite sides)
remember to only use glue or tape on three sides of the pocket - leave the top
open!
-
Fold a rectangle of
spotted paper on the diagonal but slightly off centre and then fold back the
two sides this makes the hankie for the pocket. Pop into the outside pocket.
-
For the inside pocket make a
rectangle out of card and use to give a hint as to your fathers day present.
Mine is Race Day admit one, for a day at the races but obviously you choose
whatever is suitable or you could just hide a special message.
-
Added the word dad to the front pocket with
peel offs and then put a button onto a  strip of card and attached to
centre of waistcoat.
