July 2007 - Elisa's Project!
Elisa feels like she's been crafting since
forever :)  " I started digital scrapbooking a couple of years ago and
did my first paper layout soon after joining the
www.craftsupplies.ie forum last year.  Scrapbooking is my first
love and takes up all my free time.  My style is graphic
and simple and my biggest influence was the book
" Clean& Simple Scrapbooking" by Cathy Zielske. I also get
inspiration in ads and from children's clothing (while
ironing them:)).  Elisa has a gorgeous modern and graphic
style that has seen her published in Scrapbook
Inspirations more than once, and she won our last year's
December Layout Challenge!  We're thrilled to have
her on the team.

Wedding
Layout
Our wedding rings came in a small white leather pouch, with the
jeweller’s name printed on it. It is something I treasure and I decided to use
it in a scrapbook page. I didn’t want the pouch to be glued or damaged in any
way, so I decided to make some sort of holder to keep the pouch in place. You
could use any small souvenir or ornament instead. I am not sure if the pouch is
acid-free or not, but as the photo is only a copy I am not too worried about it.
If you have concerns about your souvenir, you should place it away from the
photo or put something
between the souvenir and the photo. The embellishments are embossed with UTEE.
For general information about embossing, look at this
thread in our forum. You can find more information here
and here
(follow instructions until step 5).

Instructions
Step 1 – Printed paper
-
Cut the blue cardstock paper to same width as an A4 paper.
-
Using Word document
or another document editor, write or copy a suitable poem or quote. You will
want most of the page covered with text. I used the Jane Austen font, size 12.
Print the page in the blue cardstock.
-
Go back to Word and
now, using the Serif font, write words which describe the photo. Write in big
sizes, alternating between capitals and non capitals, smaller and bigger sizes
letters.
-
Print the document,
using the same piece of cardstock.
-
Cut out one strip at
the bottom of the document, so that the height of the cardstock will be around 9
˝ inches. Reserve the remaining piece of
cardstock.

Step 2 -
Photo
-
Glue the photo to the printed cardstock, aligning the left of the photo
to the left of the paper.
(Optional) To get a slightly torn effect on the
right of the cardstock, place a ruler on the right hand size of the cardstock,
slightly overlapping the right edge of the photo. Holding the ruler with the
left hand, pull the cardstock downwards, tearing it. Otherwise just trim the
paper to the same width of the photo.

Step 3 - Hearts
-
Using a piece of cardboard, draw a heart about 3 ˝ inches in height. Draw
another heart inside it and then another.  Cut out along the lines of the 3
hearts. You should get a smaller full heart and 2 bigger, hollow hearts. Discard
the middle one. Ink the remaining two with the black inkpad. With the white pen,
decorate the hearts.
-
Cover the hearts with
VersaMark ink and emboss them with UTEE.
  Step 4 – Putting it
all
together
-
First glue the cardstock & photo piece to the patterned
paper.
-
From the remaining
piece of cardstock, cut one strip, containing one of the lines of the text, and
glue it over the photo, close to the bottom.
-
Now place the foam
pads on the back of the bigger heart. Only cover half of the heart, because you
want to leave a gap to nest your souvenir. Fix the heart on the right hand side
of the photo, over the strip of paper. Now put your souvenir between the photo
and the opening of the heart. Place your second heart over or close to it.
