IDEAS from CraftSupplies.ie

We love the Indian Cotton cards.  Here's some
simple ideas (above left) using the mini
white cards.  Glue dots or glue stick used to attach the
embellishments, and for the pink dress, I took up the hem :)  A simple
embellishment added to them make wonderful gift cards, or give a few as a gift
to a friend.  They look gorgeous on the pink, purple, burnt orange or green
ones too - particularly with the dried flowers. The Pink Daisies card is made
using dried white daisies and a pink Indian Cotton Card and
envelope.  The polka dot cards are made using the Pick a Posie stickers - just using the
polka dots from them!  And white card blanks with co-ordinating
envelopes.

Clothesline Card.  Great for a young child or anyone at all! What you need: 1 C6 White Card Blank, 1 Yellow or Pink C6 Envelope, 1 Sheet Light Blue Mulberry Paper, 1 Sheet Yellow Mulberry Paper, 1 Sheet Pink Mulberry Paper, 1 piece of
string, 1 pack of miniature clothes
pegs.  How to make it: Start by cutting a rectangle from the
Light Blue Mulberry paper and sticking it to the white card.  Next, get a
compass or other sharp implement, and punch a small hole at the edge of the blue
paper through the white card.  This is for the " clothes line" to go
through.  Thread the string (a thinner piece is best) through the card and
tie in a knot at the back.  Trim the edges of the string or stick in place
with a round white sticker or something similar to tidy it up.  Next, cut
your " clothes" shapes from the other coloured mulberry paper.  I made a
simple girl's dress by cutting out a triangle from the pink paper, then chopping
of the top, and cutting out small half circle for the neckline of the
dress!!  Last, attach the clothes to the clothesline using the miniature
wooden pegs and you're done!!
Blue Nigella on Sinamay Mesh (right).  A wonderful card for any occasion. This card
is even nicer
than it appears in the picture.  What you need: 1 pack
Dried Blue Nigella Flowers, 1 metre
Sinamay mesh, 1 C6 Cream Card
Blank, 1 C6 Cream Envelope. How to make it:  Cut a length of mesh from
the Sinamay mesh roll.  Trim the edges using a scissors, and " fray" the
edges a little by pulling off one or two lines of the mesh.  Using a glue
stick, apply glue to the *card* (not the mesh) where you want to place the
mesh.  Press the mesh into place.  Next, gently remove the dried blue
nigella flower from the pack.  Add extra glue on to the *card* (the flowers
are very delicate) and press the flower into place.  You could also use
Glue Dots to press the flower into place.  Variations:
Try with any of the other meshes or dried flowers for
a different look.  Or use a longer piece of mesh and several flowers.
Three Roses Card.
Perfect for Valentine's Day, or use white
or yellow roses to give to a close friend, mum, dad etc.  What you
need:  1 Indian Cotton A5 page,
1 C6 Cream Card Blank, 3 Fabric Red Roses, Cream or Red C6 Envelopes, Glue dots. How to Make it: Tear
three strips from the Indian cotton.  To tear, place a ruler down on the
page and tear along the edge of the ruler. " Roughen" up the edges a little by
tearing small pieces from the edges of the strips of paper. Glue the three
strips to the ivory card blank using Pritt Stick or similar.  Do not use a
wet paper glue as it can cause the Indian cotton paper to curl.  Next, take
a red fabric rose and apply a glue dot  to the back of the head of the
rose. A mini glue dot or memory book glue dot works best.  Then, if
required, run your finger across a glue dot on the roll to " roll it up" into a
small " sausage" of glue dot!  Use this to affix to the bottom of the stem
of the red rose - make it as narrow as possible so as to be invisible.
Then, press the fabric rose onto the strip of Indian cotton.  A beautiful
card to show someone you love them.  Variations: Try it using lillies or simple paper flowers as well,
or using mulberry tissue instead of
Indian cotton.

Kids Valentines Card.
Easy for Kids to make, or to give
to a child!!  What you need:  1 Square White Card Blank, 1 Square Envelope, 1 pack Assorted Felt Shapes. How to
Make it: Select hearts and square felt shapes from the pack.  Arrange
on the card in a design you like.  Then
glue to the card using Glue Stick!  Easy peasy, but creates a great looking
card.   Variations: Try using stars
from the pack instead for a cute birthday card.
Sophisticated Valentine's
Card (right).  Sophisticated in
looks, but not difficult to make! What you need:  1 C6 Ivory Card Blank.  1 Red C6 envelope.  1 sheet Red Mulberry Paper.  1 pack Pewter Sticker hearts.
How to make it:  Cut a rectangle from the sheet of red mulberry
paper.  It doesn't have to be a particular width or height - as long as
it's a rectangle, it will look good on the card!  Glue using a glue stick
and place on the ivory card blank, centred in the middle.  Next, add one or
two pewter sticker hearts to make a simple, but stunning card.
Variations: As alternatives, use mulberry tissue instead of paper to frame
the card, or try using a different heart
embellishment instead of the pewter stickers.  You could also use a
heart rubber stamp instead of a heart
embellishment!

St. Patrick's Day
Card.  Cards don't get much easier
than this, but the effect is extremely eye catching.    What
you need:   1 Square White Card
Blank, 1 Square Envelope, 1 pack Mulberry 4 leaf clovers How
to make it:  Take one four leaf clover and apply glue to the
back.  Place carefully on the card, without pressing down, with the edge of
the stem at the middle of the card, and the edges of the leaves parallel to the
edges of the card.  When you have the clover in the right position, then
press down to make it permanent.  Add the other four leaf clovers in a
square around the first one.  Variations: To create a more
sophisticated looking card, try adding a background of mulberry tissue, or add a border in gold
or green pen around the square of shamrocks.

Spring Card.
- general.  Butterflies
flying...perfect for a thank you, thinking of you, happy birthday... What
you need:  1 white C6 card
blank, 1 red C6 envelope, 1 pack long green stems, 1 pack red iridescent
butterflies How to make it:  Take the long green stems, apply
glue stick or similar to the back, and place in random design along the edge of
the card.  Place them with the wire stems at the edge - with just the
thicker leaf part on the card.  When all are placed down, use a sharp
scissors to trim off the wire edges along the edge of the card.  Next, glue
down some red butterflies fluttering above the grass.  I placed two of the
butterflies " wrong side out" - the plain red side, and one with the iridescent
side out.  Variations: For variations of this card, try adding
some daisies or other flowers to the
grass, or use blue or white butterflies instead!

New Baby Girl
Card.  Can also be done in blue for a
baby boy.  What you need:  1 white C6 card blank, 1 light pink C6 envelope, 1 sheet Light Pink Mulberry Tissue, 1 pack pink fabric teddy bears, 1 pack pink bows (optional), Glue Dots. How to make it:
Take the Mulberry tissue and run a wet paintbrush along it in a general
rectangle shape.  Then, gently pull the Mulberry tissue apart to create a
rough rectangle shape with rough edges as seen in the picture.  If you're
not happy that the edges are rough enough - tear some pieces off to give the
desired look!  Glue the Mulberry tissue using a glue stick and apply to the
card.  Next, take three pink fabric teddies and apply glue dots to the back
of each.  I put the teddies on with two showing the plain pink side out,
and one with the gingham side.  Press to the card.  Lastly, and
optionally, add a pink bow to each of the plain pink teddies by applying a glue
dot (mini ones work best for this) to the bows and press down onto the teddies
at the neck.  Add a baby pink envelope to make a really unique and pretty
card for a new baby. Variations: Use blue mulberry paper and teddies for a boy card. Or use white mulberry paper and some pink or blue fabric hearts instead.

Get well soon card.  So simple, but
looks fabulous. What you need: 1
ivory C6 card blank, 1 cream
envelope, 1 wooden nurse topper, 1 sheet Banana Tissue (natural), Glue dots. How to make
it:  Place a ruler down on the banana tissue and gently tear along it
to tear out a rectangle.  Glue using a glue stick and place on the centre
of the ivory card. Apply one or two glue dots to the back of the wooden nurse topper, and place in the centre of the card.  Hey presto!
A unique and fabulous get well card.
Four white lillies card.  Suitable for many occasions, from weddings to
bereavement - simple, graceful card. What you need:  1 white C6 card blank and envelope, 2 stems of white lillies.  1 white terracotta pot.  Glue Dots.  How to make
it: Take the lillies, and cut the top off leaving just the flowers on the
stems.  Apply one or two glue dots (depending on the size being used) to
the back of the white terracotta pot.  Next, push the stems of the white
lillies against the glue dots on the white pot so they look as they do in the
picture.  Then add a glue dot to the back of the head of each of the white
lillies.  Lastly, place the pot and lillies in the centre of the card, and
push down to secure in place once you are sure it is in the right position on
the card.  Variations: Try using a red terracotta pot or vase instead, or use calla lillies, roses or other flowers and coloured
envelopes to match for a brighter, funkier card.
