Cara Craft Supplies Monthly Projects!!

October 2006 - Sarah's Projects!
Hi – My name is Sarah and I live in the west of Ireland between Galway and Ennis - although I have lived in Connemara, the Highlands of Scotland and North Wales over the years, although I was born in the North West of England. I love dabbling with all kinds of crafts, although recently cardmaking has taken over most of my free time (and house). I have started scrapping as well and hope Santa has soapmaking stuff on his list for me this year (I have been very, very nice – honest).
I’m  a new mum to baby Aoife, born in August – the cutest little pickle imaginable. So I’m enjoying the early days with her for now. For the future I hope to find some way of using my crafty pursuits to help me find a niche for some venture that allows me to work from home.
Project 1 - Mini Card/Album:
Materials R ed Bazzill, for example, Cajun 2" circle punch
1.5" circle punch Christmas peel offs, embellishments, etc.
Instructions Punch 4 circles from red Bazzill (
for example, Cajun) using a
2" circle punch. Fold each circle in half and then fold again approx 3mm from the centre fold. Take a 2 inch square of red Bazzill and glue a circle to each side of the square – so that the two folded parts are to the front and the half circles overlap at the back (confused? Have a look at diagram 2 to see if it helps!) Take a strip of 12 inch Bazzill slightly narrower than 2 inches and concertina fold it at intervals of just than 2 inch again – glue this inside the square. Fold the half circles over the front of the square to make a mini card with concertina insert. Decorate with photos, quotes etc. Use a 1.5" circle punch on a strip of card to make a band to wrap around the card. Decorate with
Christmas peel offs,
embellishments, etc.
You can add a little loop of gold thread to these and hang them from the tree, either closed with the “cigar band” around them or leave them open and let the inside dangle down!

Project 2 - Pudding Cards:
Materials R
ed Bazzill, for example, Cajun White C6 card blank
Heidi Swapp  Chipboard letter P
White Sakura pen
2" circle punch
Black Sakura glaze pen 3D foam mounting pads Holly peel offs from Happy Christmas sheet For variation:
1.5" circle punch
Snowflake peel offs Glue
Instructions Layer a strip of
Cajun onto a C6 white card blank. Colour a piece of Heidi Swapp  Chipboard letter P with a white Sakura pen - it looks a bit funny at first, the white needs to dry before it shows up and it may need a second coat. Punch a 2 inch circle of white card and cut across the centre in a “wiggly” (technical term) line to make the icing. Punch a second circle from brown card and a black Sakura glaze pen to add black dots and spots for the currants. Layer the icing to the pudding with foam mounting pads and use little peel off holly leaves to decorate. Attach the chipboard letter and Pudding across the red card. Write “is for” and “Pudding” freehand on the red background.
Variation – My Pudding!

A quick and easy card (cos we’re running out of time! Great for putting the kids, dogs etc – even yourself (use an old Xmas photo for a real retro feel) in the limelight this Xmas.
Punch some 1.5 inch circles from red card and glue onto card blank. Make a Pudding as above. Matt photo onto more red card. Attach with foam pads for depth and finish with a couple of snowflake peel offs.
Project 3 - Triangular Gift Box:
Materials
White Linen A4 Card Various Christmas embellishments Bone folder
Instructions Great for all those “odd” shaped little gifts – you can hang them from the tree if you like. For smaller gifts (diamonds!) use half an A5 piece of card instead.
Cut a sheet of A4 card lengthways. Fold in half along the length. Find the centre point of the widths and mark. Score card from centre of folded half way line to the marked centre on the width (it’s a diagonal line) – repeat for all 4 sides – you should end up with a scored diamond. (See diagram 3) Fold all the scored lines and fold the box up. Holding the top edges together, punch a hole through the sides and thread with ribbon to secure. Embellish!!
