October 2006 - Lainey's Layouts!

Hi I’m Elaine and I have always been
interested in arts and crafts since primary school. I started scrapbooking in
Oct '05 when a friend (Ringo) introduced me to the idea and I spent a few night
researching Irish and UK craft sites and since then I have been totally hooked.
I have a background in Marketing and more recently Interior design. I have
always loved papercrafts (starting with fancy paper collections!), photography
and family history so it seemed liked the perfect hobby to amalgamate the three
passions. I'm a SAHM to two little girls and they feature in a lot of my work. I
have recently started teaching Scrapbooking on a local basis in Dublin and we
meet up once a month which is great fun and everyone learns from each other. My
personal style is vintage and distressed but I have started to investigate the
clean and simple style (Ali Edwards).   I also adore altered art and ATC’s
and have been known to alter anything from pizza boxes to my daughter’s Barbie
books!

Instructions
:

Step 1 – Printing your
photo
When printing out your photo, go to
print options are select ‘fit page’ or A4. Alternatively copy photograph into a
WORD document, left click on the photo and select the corner arrow and drag
outwards until the photo fits the page. Print. Ideally you are trying to achieve
a 9x6 photo so a larger photo can be trimmed to fit. A smaller photo should be
matted on a 9x6 co-ordinating sheet of Bazzill or patterned paper. When trimming
the photo, leave a 4mm white border for effect.

Step 2 – Setting up the
papers
Start with the black snowflake
paper. Place the photo down in position and using a pencil lightly trace around
the photo. Use your scissors to cut around a select number of circles so they
act as photo corners. Underneath the photo – you can salvage a number of stars
and snowflakes for decoration at a later stage.

Using the burgundy snowflake paper
and using the 7’’ plate trace around and cut out the circle. Using the smaller
plate create a second circle and cut out so you are left with a circular frame.
Before you apply this to the photo, set a number of eyelet snowflakes into it
and tie the ribbon.

Stick down the photo, the circular
border and add further snowflakes and circles which were salvaged earlier (using
foam pads for 3D effect).

Step 2 – Print your
title
Using www.dafont.com print your title on white
cardstock so it is no more than 2’’ diameter. Use a 2’’ circle punch or a
tumbler to cut around it and stick down on the patterned paper snowflake
motif.
