|
|
I made a set of wedding invites for a friend/acquaintance.
it was 90 main invites (reasonably simple but all personalised with name of guests typed in, and wax sealed- hand sealed in some cases as i ran out of the colour of wax gun sticks and supplier culdnt get them, and nowhere else had them)
170 afters invites, 150 thank you cards, 100 mass booklets (fully assembled with all the prayers etc and names...ribbon tied)
i also made all the address lables and posted the invites (long story). I then had to redo 20 as some got seized at customs (dried flowers)....
The bride knows the price of the paper as she picked it, so shuld I charge for my time or per piece? How much should I be charging.
Bit worried in case she thinks I am ripping her off.... |

I make lots of invites too.
I can't say how much you should charge as I don't to Order of Service booklets. And without seeing what you made, it's hard to comment
But, I'd NEVER do a full job without quoting for it first.
You need to look at the cost to you, factor in your time, look at what the competition care charging and arrive at the price that doesn't price you out of the market, but makes it worth your while to do.
It can be fine line sometimes. dont get sucked in by friends who expect you to work for nothing either. _________________ Babs

I agree with Babs, it's much better to give a price before you start , that way you wont be worrying about it, I think it is best to price individually too because there are always extras, you can always give a discount for large amounts when you have them all finished and have a total price. _________________ Jackies Space

Yes I always give a price per item, lors of people end up asking of extra, if it a large order then I give a discount on the whole order, no much help to you now, but you need to work out all you cost first and then add the profit you are happy with give the time you have spent, I'm actually glad when people I know don't ask me to do invites as it gets tricky when it comes to pricing _________________ I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. | she might be shocked at the price - a lot of pepople are with handmade stuff if theyve never bought it - so my advice is to have some website links to other handmade invite sites in irelnd; that give rough estimates; so if she is shocked you can tell her to check out the sites s she can see you gave her a good price. thats s lot of work, even more than normal. |
