My auntie had a look at some of the cards I have made already today and said that she's love to buy some. She took 4 that I had already made and has asked me to make her 8 more!! She said I can think about how much I want to charge her for them as she didn't want to put me on the spot but I honestly don't have a clue how much to charge her. Any idea's???

Congrats on getting an order.

As to what to charge for them I really do not know, it will depend on what kind of cards you make and what you put onto them.

Not much help am I? Whistle

Well normally the cards I make would cost an average of €1 each to make so I don't want to charge through the roof for them really but don't want to charge too little either

I'm an ould softie Lauren so I'd find your situation very difficult to deal with. Some of the more sensible or businesslike members will be able to put you on the right track, but I think you'd need to supply a little more info about size and style maybe.

Congratulations anyway Lauren, you are off to a flying start, there'll be no stopping you now, I'm delighted for you. smilebox Well done

No no I meant it costs me on average €1 to make each card! My auntie was disgusted though cause she had just bought a few cards in the shops after searching for ages for suitable ones and ended up spending a fortune on them but then said that she's just gonna keep getting them from me Smile

your material might only cost a quid, but don't foget the time you put into them. Like Di said, no less than 3.50 and upwards from there depending on the card.
most of us charge 5-7 euro for an A5 personlised card.
doing favours for family is fine, so long as you make it clear that the prices you charge them are not the prices you would charge other customers.
Congrats on the order...this is how it all starts!
Look after your customers who get you further orders by referral Wink

like the girls say... the average is 3-6 depending on the size but even bigger cards or fancier like bookatrix can be 10 plus. personally i charge 5 but that is for really personalised - lots of consideration to their hobbies or tastes or wedding colours and their names etc.
if it less tailored itd be 3-4 euro.

im told that for the tailored cards 5 is too little and most peoplle give me more than i ask for

consider the cost to make (1 euro as you say) then how long they take.

its harder with family but an order is an order and if you give one person too big a discount you can easily end up with any referrals expecting the same. though i f i get a real large order over 5 cards i do give a bulk discount.

For family I charge €3 for a C6 card. I don't really do personalised cards very often, just make what I like and if I can sell them, well and good. In work and for people who ask for a specific card I charge €3.50 or 4. I think it's easier to have a set price than vary it according to the card, reckoning that it's swings and roundabouts. A simple card isn't always easier to do, even if the materials cost less. Well done on your first order. Applause Applause

Well done that is fantastic!

I used to feel awful and so asked what people though they should pay themsleves. Most people paid between 5-10 for them which I was very grateful for.

congrats Lauren, and I would say the same as Di and babs about the pricing - that would be my guideline too. If I sell a few then add up what a normally charge for them, per card then take a little off as a gesture for a bulk order. HTH Laughing Laughing
